Head Control

Matthew wanted to show you all the tricks he can do with his spit up! Is it wrong that I find it funny when he spews white goo across the room?

I know this one is a little sideways but I don't know how to change it so you'll all have to crane your necks a little.

First Trip to the Beach

Last weekend Matthew and I packed up all our necessities and headed down to Three Tree Point on the sound to watch Daddy fish. It was a gorgeous morning with a nice cool breeze coming off the water. There were even some fish caught!
Matthew, Mummy and if you look closely in the background you can see Daddy down at the water's edge.
This is what Matthew did for 90% of our beach outing. He seemed to be enjoying himself.
I am totally enraptured by his little mouth and chin (like Jenn with the feet).

Big Sister

I have to apologize. I was going back through the blog posts yesterday and realized that there were no pictures of Matthew and Mackenzie on the blog. To be honest I thought they had been posted weeks ago. Well hopefully better late than never.

Matthew mesmerized by the baby whisperer. Mackenzie was amazing at getting him to settle down if he was fussy. Maybe she has a future in baby hypnotism! (this is what Aaron has as his screen saver so he gets to see both his babies every time he logs in)
Kisses for the little brother. You just can't help yourself!
Matthew would not look at the camera but at least we have one smiling sibling!
She got to do some finger feeding. It is a little ungainly at first to handle the baby, the syringe and the finger in the mouth all at once but as with most thing in life she got the hang of it.
As always he is most content to be snuggled up with food in his mouth.

Mackenzie,
I was so happy I got to meet you when I first came home from the hospital and even take a nap on the couch with you. You are a great snuggler and I am hoping to at least get a visit from you this summer. We all miss you and think of you everyday.
Love Your Baby Brother
Matthew

Hi Nana & Papa

Hi Nana and Papa!!!
I miss you but I'm keeping busy growing and learning to smile and hold my head up. It's a lot of work but I think I'm doing pretty well. I got to go to Pike Place Market yesterday for the first time but we have no pictures because the battery in the camera was dead. Today Mommie keeps trying to make me nap. Even though I know I'm tired I just get bored being in that crib by myself so for now I'm entertaining myself with my new toy on the living room floor. Can't wait to see you again to show you all the new stuff I've learned.

Sweater from Nana

Yesterday Matthew got his first sweater from Nana in the mail. It is the perfect size and will be great to have on hand for the cool spring evenings.

It is a really pretty (I mean manly) shade of blue with real little buttons and even real pockets.
It fits great.

I think he looks like the cutest little old man in his Cardi.

First Toy

Yesterday we decided to see if Matthew would be interested in this infant-centric toy we got fro Alex and Darcie.
He seemed content to hang out on the floor but I'm not sure if he was really interested in the toy or if it was the hockey game on the TV that caught his attention. (see video below)
Big feet, little feet.

Tummy Time

Enjoying some much needed tummy time.

Baby Clothing Designers

I would like to know what kind of degree, if any, one needs to design baby clothes. Now I understand all babies are different and they need different sizes and shapes but lets be real, some of the people making these clothes are completely clueless.
This is one that totally frustrates me. It is made for the longest skinniest baby ever. It fits Matthew's 8 lb torso and the arm holes are little enough to keep his tiny hands in but it is about 4 inches too long in the body and the legs are long enough for a two year old.
See, his foot should be sticking out the end of the green piece. Even rolled up his feet don't come out.

And then there is this one. You can see that it is wide enough in the body to fit at least one more baby but the neck was so tight I could hardly get it done up. Oh and speaking of done up, this sleeper has eight real button buttons (extremely difficult to handle on an infant) and 12 snaps at the legs. Seriously who has time to do up all these fasteners when your baby is screaming bloody murder because its 10 minutes past eating time!!

Here We go Again

Attempting to Catch a Smile

Trying a Video

Chubby Chins, Smiles and Funny Faces

Wow look at that chin!
A smile captured for Nana.
He gets his head from his dad.
Whoa, how did my shirt get all open and stuff. This was taken today after lunch.
Smiling at Daddy
It takes a lot of energy to make a double chin and cheeks like this.

Mother's Day

Since Matthew was born Grandma joyce has been fighting a cold and was thoughtful enough to keep her distance. For Mother's Day since she was feeling a little better we went for a short outdoor visit.

For Papa and Frog Baby

When Matthew snuggles up with Mummy this is how he sleeps.
Face down on my chest with one leg tucked up and one hanging down. (this was the night that he had the fever so he was dressed down to keep cool)
Ready for hunting season. He's even got the manly facial expressions.

Visitors

Last friday Auntie Kathy, her brother Johnnie and Johnnie's dog Peter came for a visit.
Loving getting to feed the baby.
Aww, such a cute baby! (and he didn't even puke on her)
Unfortunately, Matthew was not on his best behavior!

For Nana

Don't you wish you could sleep this hard?
Just a cute pose I couldn't resist.
I was gong to put the camo shirt on him when I turned around to see this.
This is how big he is now. Remember he weighed 6lbs 13oz at the pediatrician's today. He has a serious double chin now!

A Little Perspective

The first belly picture at about 12 weeks.

The last belly picture at 39 weeks!!

Learning to Sleep in the Crib

Today is the first day we decided to start getting Matthew (and me) used to sleeping in his crib. He'll still be in bed with us for a week or two at night more for me than anything but at six or seven weeks we'll start putting him in there at night.
He's all snuggled in with his baby shawl that Nana made. He's got a little extra room to grow.
