Montana 2010

A couple weeks ago we piled in the car and made the 11 hour night drive to Ennis Montana to visit Grandpa Rick and Grandma Ida. Aaron drove the whole way while I napped and dealt with Matthew when he intermittently woke up screaming. At about 6 am we stopped at a rest stop about 2 hours from Ennis where we first discovered the abundance of trucks.

At this point I should probably explain that Matthew has developed an obsession with big trucks. Anytime he sees or hears them he stops what he is doing, squeals and runs to the nearest window to look for them. In the car he squeals and points vigorously from his car seat. Well a highway rest stop is a cornucopia of big trucks, hence the next few pictures.

A very nice couple noticed that Matthew was squealing and pointing and said he was welcome to sit in their truck. Well he wanted to until he got up there then those big trucks suddenly became really big.
Mummy climbed up to help out.
Yep, those trucks are big but not so scary when they're behind you and you can't see them

We also discovered that those big trucks are even cooler at night as they rumble down the highway with LIGHTS on them!!!

Not shy with Grandpa at all. Matthew jumped right up into his lap and started to smack the table with him.
Making himself at home.
Playing "get your feet down" with Grandpa

Grandpa walking out in the yard with his herd of deer. They come to his whistle every morning and evening for oats.

Matthew and Tou Tou in the Gazebo.

There is a great big gazebo at G & G's. It is down near the creek away from the house so at the end of the day when he was starting to get crazy but we needed to kill some time before dinner we would go down there and wander around.

Matthew had a great time going in and out and in and out and in and out. Which was fine by me because the glider chairs are really comfortable to sit and watch from.

Occasionally he needed a little help at the higher end.

Looking for thunder and lightning.

Listening to the thunder with Daddy

One of the highlights of the trip (besides the spaghetti dinner Grandpa prepared) was the tour on the riding mower with Grandpa. Matthew was very serious and concentrating very hard the whole time.

Watching from inside while Grandpa finishes the lawn. Matthew sat and watched until I dragged him off for his nap

Grandma and Grandpa's living room is very long and narrow and perfect for performing for your adoring fans. Matthew would run down to this rug at the far end and wait for someone to yell GO!

Then he would run all the way back either right into someone's arms or veering off to avoid a tickle. He would do this over and over and none of us ever got tired of it.

Hugs for Grandma.

Sitting for a nice picture with Grandma.

Three generations of Greenreichs, there's no family resemblance or anything.

It was really nice to get away for several days from the hassle of home. I even got to spend a day with Colleen and her crew since they were in Big sky to experience the wonders of Yellowstone National Park. Already looking forward to the next vacation, whenever that might be!

It was good to see you and Matthew too! You are right, there is no family resemblance. ;)
