2012 Ice Storm

The fun snow seen in the last post decided to melt and then freeze into a solid 2-6 inch layer of ice all over the Puget Sound.
It was beautiful but very destructive. It broke millions of tree branches that then fell onto thousands of power lines leaving 300,000 houses without power.
We lost power for four and a half days. It was obvious after 48 hours that both Aaron and I were seriously losing it. I had no real clue of how reliant we are on electricity to just get through the day. Especially in our neighbourhood where we are on a well and if we have o power we have no water. We were lucky on several accounts once we got our poop in a group: We have a functional fireplace, a good generator and gas water heater and gas stove. Also Grandma Joyce had power so we were able to go over there for a little each day.
On the last full day without power Matthew and I went up to Bellevue to play at the indoor playground and enjoy a couple of cupcakes. We were so thankful when our power finally came back on after 4 attempts by the power company to fix it. Matthew still occasionally asks if we have power!
