Eating with a Fork

Aiming
A little closer now.
We have lift off.
Chewing
Then after we're done we have to make sure we clap. YAAYY!
He isn't cue or anything and we certainly aren't biased.

A Visit from the Wellses

When the Wells family came over on Sunday we all headed outside to take advantage of the sunny afternoon and the freshly mowed lawn.
As with any trip outside Matthew feels the need to put every thing in his mouth. If you look closer you can see the grass on his shirt, the dirt around his mouth and the flower in his hand oh and the booger, lets not forget the booger. All three plus additional material not pictured here had already been in his mouth. And this was all before the run in with the bird bath.
Hey Elliot, give us a smile. Wait for it!
Ah ha, there it is. (there was an even better one but it was out of focus)
Elliot made sure that Aaron had done a thorough job of the lawn mowing.
Matthew living up to his father's legacy
Dude get out of my way, I'm trying to clean up all the spots you missed earlier.
Matthew found Elliot mid pass and grabbed a quick hug.
Later when Elliot had less room to maneuver, Matthew snagged a kiss!
Parents will know that there is constant kid wrangling to be done at this age.
More kid wrangling.
A little perspective.
After fixing up the lawn, Elliot thought he would go for a cruise on the quad.
This one also needs a closer look. Here you can see the results of the run in with the bird bath.
Alex finding some energy to get up and kick the ball around with the kids.
Matthew took the quad for a spin.
As the afternoon drew to a close, it just seemed easier to lie on the ground than to bother crying for someone to come help. I think we all felt the same way. Thanks so much for coming down for a visit we had a great time!

Watching Daddy Cut the Lawn

Before the Wellses came over on Sunday Aaron went out to get the lawn under control. Matthew was fascinated and stood in this chair and watched for over half an hour. Now if you have experienced a toddler you know that anything that holds their attention for more than 15 seconds is a great thing.

An Afternoon Outside

A week or so ago Aaron took Matthew outside to enjoy the sunshine while I was at work.
Hey, Mummy's home!
Picking a pretty flower.
Handsome
Do you have kisses for Daddy?
Oooh those are good kisses!
Look Mummy found a pretty rock.

Checking out the Japanese Maple.
He was having so much fun he did not want to stop to have his shoe put back on.
And he discovered the bird bath.

In an effort to distract him from the water, I gave him my card holder but if you look closely you can still see the tears from when he was detached from the bird bath.
Yumm, more rocks and this one has dirt on it too!
It was time to go in for lunch and a nap.

Birthday Party

So on April 3rd we invited some friends to join us at the community center to celebrate Matthew's first birthday. It was a small group because the room could only hold a small group.
A stack of cupcakes which I think should a part of our daily lives!
Such a big boy at the craft table.
His first crayons. (about 30 s after this photo was taken he forgot he was on a chair and promptly hit the floor with his head)
Yay, Happy Birthday Matthew.
Man was he ever excited to meet the newest baby in the group.
Hello little Samantha!
Nayima, Erica's daughter. Such a little model!

Woo hoo cake!!
The cupcakes were definitely a hit.
Aww there's the little cutie again.
He got some fly duds to wear this summer and probably even next winter.
And fabulous toys like this quad!
At the end of the hour and a half the little buggle was completely pooped.
