Beautiful Day

Yesterday was a gorgeous, warm, sunny day so we decided on a whim to get out of Renton. We left our good camera at home so these are all cell phone pics and not the best quality.
Our first stop, per Matthew's request, was Ivar's to eat.

and feed the seagulls fries.

They will come right up to you and take the fries out of your hands but

Matthew thought it was more fun to drop the fries into the water and watch the birds fight it out.

Daddy and Matthew next to the giant tank you see when you first walk in.

Matthew next to a white Anemone.

When we stopped back at the big underwater dome on our way out they were feeding the fish so we got to wave at the diver.

It was an amazingly gorgeous sunny spring day and the mountains were on full display.

BBIIIGG SMILES

We went out through the gift shop and Matthew saw the starfish magnets. We bought him one that he clutched tightly all the way home (at least until he fell asleep) and then made sure to take to the shower with him the next morning. It now resides on the front of the dishwasher.
It was a fabulous day after several weeks of being cooped up in the house avoiding the rain.

Hockey Stick

Last week Matthew found the adult sized hockey sticks we have by the front door and was having a lot of trouble using them without running into furniture and walls so Aaron went out to the garage and made one just his size.

Kite

Today after lunch Daddy grabbed the kite he bought a couple weeks ago and headed outside to test the winds. After a successful (YAY!) trip to the potty, Matthew and I got our gear on and went out to join the fun.
Daddy controlled the kite as I have no idea how to do it and Matthew is just too little. The winds were good but tricky to navigate around the houses, trees and power lines.
There was a lot of running involved.
And more running
And even more running.
It really is a very pretty kite.
There it is!
Of course it was important to fully inspect all the puddles on the street.
We had a great time and were so pooped we all went inside and took a nap while it rained.

Friends

Matthew announced the other day that they are friends.

Ringlets

Matthew has these two great ringlets that frame his face.

Wagon

Auntie Colleen, Claire, Daniel and Carlam gave Matthew a wagon for Christmas and today we finally put it together and in the small window in the weather, we took it for a test run.
It was touch and go getting out the front door.
It is a little ungainly for a little fella.
Ungainly but happy.
TA DA thanks guys!
"Aaarrr Matey". As we were going along I heard Matthew say this and turned around to see he had turned his toque into an eye patch.
Turns out he was really quite pleased to just hang out and let me pull.

I know I've been lax this month with posts but we've had a lot going on.

When we got back from Alberta I decided to start on the potty training thing which is hard when you have no idea what you are doing. I have read a book or two and armed with all this knowledge still have no idea what I'm doing but Matthew sure seems to have some hard and fast ideas of his own.

Then the next week, we decided it was time for the soother to go so there were a couple really long days there where the potty training totally went out the window. I don't want to tempt fate but I think we have successfully broken that bad habit.

Then we all got sick. I will try to be more consistent in the coming weeks.

Sick Day

This week we all came down with a late winter cold. I started to feel it on Tuesday and the boys started to feel it on Thursday so while I went to work on Friday, Aaron and Matthew stayed home and in bed trying to get well.

Alberta Trip Feb 2011

On February 18th Matthew and I and the gravol headed to Colleen's for the long weekend. This post is backwards for reasons I can't fathom and I'm not in the mood to try to fix it.

-March 12- Ok I've moved some of the pictures into better sequence but I still can't get them bigger

Early on in the trip Matthew discovered that Daniel not only Could read books but would read books so they often settled in together to peruse the books Nana brought.

Even though it was -20, we decided that Matthew needed to get outside and experience winter.

All bundled up and ready to go.

Papa demonstarting that the snow can be shovelled

Matthew practising his skills.

It only took two over the head throws that ended with snow in the face for him to abandon the shovel.

Trying to get Matthew to walk with his face toward the sun. He seems really sensitive to bright sunlight and having it shining off the snow was just too much for him. Unfortunately reaching the bulk of accessible yard required walking into the sun and some convincing from Papa.
In the end we forced him into the sled for a ride to the end of the lane and back. We had been outside about 20 minutes by the end of the ride and he was too cold and too tired to endure anymore.

One of the best things according to Matthew about the trip was Auntie Colleen's iphone. She would find him vidoes of Dino Dan.
The other cool thing about Auntie Colleen is the DVD player in her van. We've been home for 3 weeks and he still asks for a movie every time we get in the car to go somewhere and is pissed that my sucky car doesn't have any.

Dino Dan Distraction

All these pictures are really small and hard to see but I can't figure out how to get them to be bigger and less pixelated. I have yet to corner the computer expert to see if he can help. When I get it figured out I will repost because these will not work for making a photo book.
