The Best Store in the Whole World

Reptile Expo

On my way home from work this morning I drove by the community center and I saw that they were having the Reptile Expo there. Matthew and I ate lunch and went over there to check it out.
One of three vibrantly coloured chamelaons we saw.
M in front of lizards in a box.
Tarantulas.
Matthew had a great time. He got to touch two snakes and a rat and when we got home we went right to sleep.

Nighttime Shananigans

It took Matthew a long time to finally settle down and go to sleep after being put to bed tonight. I went in to put his laundry away around 9:30 and found this. At least now we know what he was doing to keep himself awake!

HAPPY EASTER

Grandma brought some yummy Easter candies with her including this chocolate bunny.

Right outside the door the Easter Bunny hid some eggs in the planters to get the ball rolling as this was Matthew's first egg hunt. As you can see I dressed in my Sunday best to celebrate.

Another easy one to get started.
Pretty cool Easter basket.

Look at this one Daddy.

Hey there's one over there!

Pretty proud of his finds so far. You can see Grandma Joyce hiding behind the tree.

Found another one.

In our house we say "cheese click" when someone asks you to look at the camera.

And a development none of us anticipated, Matthew opening the hard boiled eggs to see if there was a baby inside. Turns out there is a baby egg inside the big egg (the hard boiled yolk).

Exploring the Out of Doors

On Wednesday Matthew and I spent about two hours out in the yard raking dead moss (let me just tell you that killing the moss in your yard is not a job that takes a day or two, especially when your "lawn" consists of about 70% moss. we are raking our way into week two of this project). Naturally he gets bored so I do my best to keep him occupied.
In one of the piles of dead moss I found a big, fat earth worm, which I promptly pointed out to Matthew.
He carried it around the yard for about half an hour, including a trip through the fence which required a bit of a rescue mission.
In the end, Matthew decided he was ready to go inside so he took the worm over to the flower bed and let him go. His Papa will be so proud.

Leisure Suit

On Tuesday Matthew wore his Edmonton Eskimo's track suit for the first time. It's still a little big but look at all the things it can help you do:

Showing Daddy all the cool things across the street.
Pointing out the "steam" coming out of Denis and Janice's chimney.
Practicing your modeling poses.
Jumping on the couch. aka not sitting still while daddy tries to take a picture.

Sitting although not exactly still.

Running (this is also NOT sitting still for the camera).
Speaker repair. (almost still)
Jumping over cement trucks. (definitely not still)
More Running. (I think you're getting the idea here)
Cow wrangling (note the professional cow grip action).

Who knew you could do all of these things in an Edmonton Eskimo's track suit.

As a side note all of this action took place over about a 10 minute period just before we left for daycare. Extrapolate that to the rest of a typical day and all you people with kids that sit quietly and read or do crafts or whatever else you can do and be still can kiss my ass!!!

Again with the Aquarium

Last Sunday I got a text from Erin, that she had three FREE tickets to the aquarium that had to be used that day. Even though we were just there we figured what the hell, called Grandma Joyce and headed into the city.

The Greenreichs.

The Day After

The morning after the party Matthew was enjoying the singing card he got from Grandma Joyce.
He has since ripped it in two and I finally tossed the pieces today. But don't be sad, he got another
one in the mail on Thursday from Auntie Colleen and crew.

Matthew's 2nd Birthday Party

On April 3 we had a small party to celebrate survival by all parties of the 2nd year!
We had the kids make their own pizzas with a lot of help from the adults.
The timing was perfect as the kids pizzas came out of the oven as the delivery ones arrived at the front door.
Elliot Wells, who was super quiet the whole time in his snazzy sweater vest.
The cake, which I did NOT make myself. A shout out to Safeway.
An unexpected development, Matthew thought the bulldozer on top of the cake was great for dozering the icing off. He kind of destroyed a large portion of the cake.
You can't let all that good icing go to waste.
Lily really liked the cake too.
Opening gifts. He was getting a little pooped at this point so his attention span was pretty limited.
Lily was nice enough to model the cute shorts and shirt he got from Richelle.

We had a great time and Matthew slept like a log.

Pay back Presents

The morning of Matthew's birthday, after opening a gift from Nana and Papa, I let Matthew break out the drum and cymbals he got from Auntie Colleen for Christmas. We had been hiding them because of the noise but the night before Daddy had gotten a set of drum sticks from a concert that he fixed up for Matthew so I figured now was the perfect time.
As you can see he totally gravitated to the cymbals. Keep in mind it is about 7:30 am, we are skyping with Nana and Papa and Daddy is still in bed.

Puddle Jumping

So there was a break in the weather for the first time in DAYS, so Matthew and I went outside for a walk at 6pm.
Naturally after DAYS of rain there are a plethora of puddles to explore and today Matthew discovered that not only can you walk, run and march through them but you can also Jump into them!
This is what happened when Mummy said that it was time to go home. Ultimately I got him home with the promise of a shower, his new obsession. I realize it is far from environmental but I let him stay in there until he drained the hot water heater and this blog post was almost done!
