Skate Party

This afternoon Matthew and I headed to Federal Way to celebrate Nyima's birthday and partake in the skate party. This was Matthew's first roller skating experience and I think he really enjoyed himself.

He did two loops around the floor, one before pizza, cake and presents and one after. After that he was ready to go home and take a nap.

Matthew was doing this this morning. I don't what it is but its funny.

Saturday Morning

Saturday morning I took Matthew to work with me as Aaron was helping his buddy Tony. When we were getting ready M was walking around with a plastic shopping bag around his neck saying "I got a pack back". I remembered that we got this little one when we started his book club so I took it out of the closet for him. He was pretty psyched and immediately filled it with toys and snacks to take to the office with him.

Once we got to the office, I gave Matthew one of the new trucks Nana suggested I get to make the morning go more smoothly. He chose the garbage truck so I ripped and rolled up little pieces of paper so he could use the truck as it was intended.

He was kept busy for about an hour at which point Auntie Kathy conveniently showed up with books. Last night he took the garbage truck to bed.

Crane Truck and Broccoli

The other day I was sitting in the living room eating dinner when Matthew came over and helped himself to a piece of my broccoli. Knowing that he usually doesn't eat veggies I was quietly pleased with his maturation until I heard the "Look Mummy" :
Matthew, knowing that broccoli is pretty much inedible, found a better use for it.
He was very proud of his ingenuity.
There's that fire truck again.

Fire Truck

Last thursday Matthew scored a fire truck when he and Grandma Joyce went to the store.
He slept with it all night long.
And made sure he had it when he came to snuggle with Mummy and Daddy first thing in the morning
He LOVES this truck.

Another Beach Trip

Last Monday Matthew and I packed up bright and early and headed back to the beach. Being a slightly cloudy Monday morning before the kids are out of school for the summer, it was pretty quiet. Matthew still had a great time and I got to sit on my butt and do nothing for an hour.

Nebulizer Update

After a few days of using his new machine, Matthew was totally capable of sitting on the couch and holding it all by himself. He only needs it now when/if his lungs are clogged. The doctors won't say he has asthma and he may not but since his dad has a ton of allergies and occasional asthma attacks we have decided to buy one of these machines to have on hand just in cases.
(can you guess the movie reference?)

Baby Snores

Not that Matthew is a baby anymore but after a couple hours of playing hard at the beach this morning he was making these teeny, tiny baby snores during his nap. I know the video is a little weird but I wanted to get close to make sure you could hear him and I couldn't really see what I was doing.

A trip to the Park

Yesterday, the weather was amazing so Matthew and I went to the park down the street to get in some sun and get out some energy.
This is what we call "The Park by the Little Store"
Checking out the bases on the T-ball field.
Gotta wear a hat and sunglasses in these rays.
Shaking the fence.
"Wook Mummy, I dirty". As he was running after the birds in the park he managed to find and fall into the only puddle in the entire place.
This little puddle/mud hole...
In this whole big field.

Wheezing

Took Matthew to see the pediatrician on Wednesday because he had a chest cold that he just couldn't shake. I figured it would be a quick in and out with the old "it's just a virus give it 5-7 days and he should be fine". Well the doc listened to his chest and heard some wheezing so she checked his oxygen levels (they were fine) and had us do a nebulizer treatment to see if his breathing got better. After 15 minutes of a screaming, crying freak out while I held his arms down and the mask on his face, she rechecked. His breathing was better and we got to come home with a snazzy new piece of equipment.
Twice a day Matthew sits with Daddy and his teddy bear and breathes into his mask to keep his lungs clear. At this point we don't know if it is just a chest cold or slight asthma or some springtime allergies but he is getting better about doing the treatments and his nasty cough is almost gone.
I know its hard to tell, but they are both smiling in this picture.

Best Friends

The Maple Leaf Teddy Bear (sans skirt) and the Easter Bunny from the garage sale down the street are Matthew's best friends assuming you don't count the multitude of trucks.
