Walking!!!!

On September 7th, three days after turning 14 months old and while skypeing with Nana, Alex decided he was going to walk.  He had picked up a big, blue water canon we have and wanted to bring it to me but it was too big to crawl with and it was obvious I wasn't coming to him so he just walked.  And when he saw our reaction, realized what a big deal it was and started to join in out enthusiasm.

Now he spends all day every day practicing and goes to bed exhausted.

New Monster Truck

This is the new monster truck that is parked at the high school this year.  It is about twice the size of the green one from last year.

Eating with a Fork

Over the September long weekend Alex finally wrested the reigns from my hands and got to use the fork all by himself.
Start with the stabbing.
then the getting it to the mouth.
 then right on in.
 and then the self congratulations.
 There were lots of ttys
 some of them successful
some of them not so much.
It hasn't happened very often since because Mummy rarely has the patience for it.

Mariners 2013

This year for Grandma Joyce's birthday we celebrated by going to a Mariner's game.
Matthew sat next to Grandma because she lets him have a little more reign than his parents.

Alex could not keep his hands off this railing so he spent most of the game in his dad's lap.
This game was the one where they let the little kids go down to the field to run the bases.  Little did we know when we got in the line that it would wind all the way up to the top of the stadium and most of the way around.  After an hour of mostly walking, we finally made it to the field.

Aaron was the most excited of all.  They were hustling us so the pictures had to be quick.  The run around the bases took about 30 secs.  My camera failed me when I tried to take a video but here is the one Aaron took while they were running.

Labour Day Long Weekend

We had a great long weekend, making sure to put the last days of summer to good use.

On Sunday, Matthew and I went to see Planes, IN THE THEATER. Which was super cool and exciting until about 15 minutes into the movie. But let me tell you, I was not going to let $25 worth of movie tickets and snacks go to waste so we sat through the entire thing!

Saturday night and Sunday night we camped in the backyard. This basically meant that Alex slept in his crib and when it got pretty close to dark, Matthew and I went out to sleep in the tent. It was fine the first night but the second night my back was not appreciative of the little air mattress separating it from the ground. Lucky for me the baby monitor went dead around 11:30 so I carried Matthew into the house and got to spend the night in bed!!

On Monday we went to Chuck E. Cheese (because I couldn't bear/bare? to be in the house all day)then headed to the pool for the last dip of the season. I consoled myself that if the weather holds and we want more sun/swim time we can always go to the beach now that Alex is mostly past the eating sand phase.

The picture was taken at the pool and I think really reflects how happy these little boys make me. Now I know what they mean when they say "I would die for you". Without hesitation.

More Fun at the Pool

This girl was so freaked out by water at the beginning of summer she panicked if she got splashed on the face.
Modified crawling so your knees and tops of your feet don't get scraped raw.

Under the chairs is just as much fun as the water!
