Baby Room Saga Continues

So deciding to paint squares was a lot of work and even though I knew it was going to be, it was even more work than I imagined. So stage 1 was priming the wall, stage 2 was painting it white (because apparently primer left uncovered is a bad idea). I don't have pictures of this because I was too emotional and tired to think to grab the camera.
This is Stage 3 and 4. Using the laser level the line out the squares and then sealing it with tape sealer to assure nice straight lines.
Stage 5, painting all the different colored squares. The dark purple took four coats, the rest three.

The Final Product. Even though the colors on this post are not quite right, it actually turned out really great!! Now the next step is to decide what color to paint the other three walls. Aaron suggested two walls in the beige and the wall opposite the squares the light blue color. For those of you who know me, you know I love blue so I am all for that suggestion.

Snow Again

We had another big dump of snow on Monday. I am so sick of it all that I didn't even take any pictures of it. Besides you all know what our street/yard/neighbourhood look like covered in snow. If you can't remember just scroll down a few posts, it looked like that. The tempuratures have remainied low enough all week that when I went out to start the car this morning I noticed there is still a patch of snow about 10'x10' in the front yard. Spring better get its shit together and get here already!!!

Baby Shower extras

The signed photo frame that Erica brought to the shower so we already have something to hang on the wall of the nursery.
This is the card that came with the sock monkey.  No offense intended to all the other carefully chosen cards but this one is my favorite!
This is the necklace that Auntie Colleen sent that immortalizes Baby Em  before he/she becomes known by something else.  So we'll always have our Baby EM.

Baby Shower Part 1

Just a heads up the next couple posts will be long so Mum and Colleen can get a really good look at the baby shower.

On Saturday March 7, I got all dolled up and headed out to my baby shower.  This is the new shirt that I bought so I would feel pretty and not chubby and pregnant as I left the house.
A close up of my chubby self.
I think it looked really cute and I am thinking of things we can do over the next few weeks so I can wear it a few more times.
In this picture we have from left to right Stacey Ferguson (she used to do billing at our office), Terrie K (one of my patients) Aunt Peggy (married to Aaron's Uncle Bob Greenreich) and  Joanna (wedding planner).   They were just chatting while Aunt Peggy sat quietly in the corner waiting for people to cross their legs so she could take their pins and win one of the games ( she totally cleaned up!).
The spread of food for us all to enjoy.  In the back that you can't see are two really yummy salads that Debbie and Richelle prepared.  I was kind of bummed stomach has been squished by the baby because I would have liked to have eaten much more than I did.  I have some recipe gathering to do.  Oh and that's Donna trying to escape the shot and Erica behind the table.
Anna having one of the fabulous cupcakes that Melody made and her husband Ryan frosted.  They were white cake with cherry bits in the cake and cream cheese frosting.  I ate two at the shower and have one still waiting for me here at home.   I also came home with one of the chocolate cakes you see sitting on the counter that Erica's sister made.  YUMMMY.
People waiting for gifts and a shot of the decorations done by Erica and Donna.
Gathered for the gifts we have from left to right Heather, Teresa, Eryn, Korina, Melody (massage therapist from office and my doula) and Donna (massage therapist from the office).
One of the games we played was everyone guessed how many squares of toilet paper it would take to wrap me all the way around.  This is the measuring part.
Everyone waits with baited breath to see how big I really am.  Turns out 11 toilet paper squares around!  Not so bad after all.  My guess was 3 or 4.

Watching the parade of gifts we have from left to right Eryn Schunzel (daughter of Joe and Susie) Teresa Fagan (we house sat for them a couple of Christmases) Debbie Smith (volleyball player and host extraordinaire) Korina Sullivan.

Baby Shower Part 2

The Parade of Gifts begins.

A sleeper that was part of the gift from the Camerons that has the cutest little feet.
From the Lydens and Lawsons we got a whole shwack of stuff including a few books that look like they are going to be fun to read to EM.
The reaction to the necklace sent from Auntie Colleen that I will show in the next post.
It's really cool!
The quilt that Mum sent so I could have a sneak peek at the baby room decor.  I think it is going to look awesome when we get it all put together.
Diapers and frog towel set from Erica.
The Wipe Warmer from Terri, one of my patients.
A portable baby bed from Donna.  We were figuring out just how it worked.
A stuffie for Archie to lick and blankets for the baby from Melody and Ryan.
Yay, the baby bathing seat from the Monahan's.  Came with great apple smelling shampoo.
Stacey's gift that included the CUTEST little shoes.  A pair of Crocs and a pair of Van's.
A sock monkey from Stacey's daughter McKaylee.  The card was the best.  I'll take a picture and put it in the next post with the necklace.
Crib sheets from Sue Ferguson.
The tie together fleece blanket the Debbie made that is the perfect color for the baby's room.  I tried it on for size and it seems to be the perfect size to use in my chair in the living room!

The stroller frame that the car seat fits into from the Sullivans and the Grouwses
A very chic baby swing from Teresa and Dave.
Aaron's Aunt Peggy represented the family and had to wait until the very end to see her gift opened.  It was great to have some family come.
She gave us a rattle, wipes, diapers wash cloths and receiving blankets.  All very practical, which if you know me is my MO!!  Thanks Peggy, you totally read my mind.

It was a wonderful day.  Richelle, Debbie, Erica and Donna did such a great job organizing and hosting a perfect shower.   Although I was completely exhausted when I got home I was also completely happy.  I am so lucky to have such great friends, thanks a million guys.

Results of Shopping Trip

So I decided today that I needed to get my butt down to the Supermall mostly to get a bra extender (I know very glamorous) but also to pick up a cute top for my shower next weekend.  Since they have a Motherhood Maternity outlet there, I still had some money left on my gift card and I needed a pick me up I figured it would be worth the trip.

This one I found on the $10 rack and couldn't think of a good enough reason not to get it.
This is the one I picked out for the shower.  It is light enough that I if I get a hot flash I won't be forced to strip naked in front of everyone but has little cap sleeves that make me feel like I'm hiding my cellulitey arms.  I'll wear a white tank under it with jeans probably.

Snow Again

We had what we hope will be the final snow of the season last Wednesday (February 25th).  It kind of came out of no where, dumped for about an hour and stayed cold enough for the snow to stick around for about 24 hours.  Just enough to keep people from work and kids out of school again.  I only glimpsed it all through a vicodin fog.

The Belly Week 34

Ok so it's official now.  I'm a whale, but a cute one and I'm pretty sure that the baby whale is really cute too.  It is getting harder to move my body around these days, especially with the rib situation and I am looking forward to having my body back and a baby to hold in my arms.

As for the rib situation.  It is healing but much slower than I had anticipated.  I was hoping to be back to regular work duties on Tuesday but I'm not sure if that is going to be possible.  I am going to go in on Tuesday and give it a shot but do not have high hopes considering how I'm feeling today.  Will keep you posted, if I don't go postal from all this sitting around.
