A visit from the Famdamily

At the very end of May Colleen, Daniel and Claire arrived to spend a week with us. It was the first visit to the new house and I was very excited for them to get here. It shoudl be a better visit than the last since we won't have to cram ourselves into a small one bedroom apartment.

On Sunday we headed into Seattle to catch the boat to Tullicum Village on Blake Island. Tillicum village is a replica of an Indian long house. As usual it was a beautiful warm sunny day, ugh.

When you get off the boat they herd you up the path to "enjoy" your clam broth. this picture clearly demonstrates D's acting abilities. None of us finished it.

With your ticket you get lunch. Much to kids delight they had more than just Salmon to eat.

And a show about the legends of the Lummy Indians. These masks were gorgeous.

After the show there is just barely enough time to peruse the gift shop, take a very quick glance around the grounds and snap a picture as you are about to board the boat back. On the way back the wind was not as bad so the kids and I rode outside the whole way with NO FIGHTS!!!!

Kids with the Seattle skyline in the background.

After we got off the boat we headed to Alki beach so Colleen could experience the beach where they fly the kite on Sleepless in Seattle. The kids got a chance to stretch their legs too.

Beyond this we did some shopping and relaxing. We went to Elliot's oyster house for a birthday celebration (mine, Colleen's and Aaron birthdays are all within three weeks of each other) where we enjoyed a fabulous feast. The kids tried everything including raw oysters and Daniel discovered that he likes clamari and declared on the way back to the car "that was the best meal I have ever eaten". The last night they were here we went to Stir chinese restaurant after I got home from work and Daniel discovered there that he likes Tofu. We had a great time hanging out together and I can't wait to see them again in July when we head to Fernie. Can't wait to see what we can talk Daniel into eating on that trip!!
