Nana and Matthew

On July 3rd Nana and Papa came back for another visit. This time they only stayed for 10 days which was both too long and not long enough. Mum and I decided that we want to see each other every day but she doesn't want to live here and I don't want to live in Roblin so we'll have to settle for Skype. It was so great to have another hand or three to help out. We got a bunch more yard work done, more meals put in the freezer and I had my very own laundry folder! They stayed an extra weekend to babysit Matthew while Aaron worked his 6th ten hour day in a row and I did a big marketing event. They were such a huge help and they got to bond with Matthew a little more.
Nana did her best to destroy our nap schedule and our rules for sleeping in the crib. But she's Nana and how can one refuse this kind of love.
Snuggles with Nana. There was a lot of this kind of thing going on while they were visiting.
Thank god I have these fingers to shove in my mouth!
Zzerberts from Nana.
Yeah, do it again!!
Oooh yeah, that's the ticket!!!
Sitting with Nana in the morning.
Mmmm, even Nana has good fingers!

More Tummy Time

When Nana and Papa were here Matthew did some tummy time and we got to see how much stronger he has gotten and that he may roll over some day soon.

Bumbo

Wow this thing is pretty cool.
Now that Matthew is able to hold up his own head fairly well he is able to use one of his bumbo chairs. He can only handle it for about 10 minutes and then his head just gets too heavy and he starts staring at the floor.
A pensive moment.

Teething?

A few weekends ago Matthew started to drool and didn't want to do anything besides chew on Aaron's thumb. We can't see any teeth yet but he is still drooling and shoving things in his mouth.

Newest Achievement

On Wednesday (July 15) Matthew learned how to squeal or at least how to do it at will. It takes him a few minutes after waking up to get his vocal cords all warmed up then it is just a matter of increasing the volume. It goes on all day and we never get bored of it.

Yard Progress

When Nana and Papa were here they spent many an afternoon out in the yard doing all the spring planting that I had been hoping to do but was sidelined by my surgery. Here is how the plants have fared.

Unfortunately the Basil is not doing well. This is the third plant I have bought and all three have died. I had great basil last year in the same pot in the same spot so I have no idea what is going wrong.
Close up of the berries on the strawberry plants. We have eaten four berries so far and hey were yummy.
The Strawberries and the other flowers on the back deck.
The ground cover and the lavender planted in the half moon bed by the driveway.
The English Daisies under the cedar. They are doing very well.
Here you can see all three plants. I like the white ones best.

The peonies are in bloom and smell great.
The roses have also gotten off to a great start although they need to be tied back to the wall.
The circle bed in the front yard and the Lillys Dad replanted. I also put some gladiolus and some Dahlia bulbs in here. We'll see if they grow or not.
The tomato plants Dad planted in the front flower bed. We put them here because this bed was empty, we haven't figured out where we are going to put our real garden yet and this is a place with lots of sun. They love it here.
Every plant has blooms already so we will definitely have tomatoes!
