Matthew turns 5

On March 29th we had several kids over for Matthew's dinosaur themed birthday.
 The chaos begins.
I had planned a dinosaur excavation in the sand box but the weather was crappy so we moved it to a box of packing peanuts in the garage.
apparently the best technique was to dive right in, head first.
And when you a re two the best fun is to just throw handfuls of them up in the air.
The gift opening was a group effort.

Then we headed outside to kill the T-rex PiƱata.

 Alex was totally uninterested.

 group photo, serious cat herding
cake and then shortly thereafter is was all over.  it was maniacal and next year will be much smaller.

gymnastics Update

Last week Matthew moved up from gymsters to the 5-6 years old boys class.
There was no messing around and they got right to work.  The following pictures demonstrate how you start to teach a kid all those cool things you see on the Olympics.
They started on the rings.

 This one is the coolest.
There were three boys in the class and they did a circuit.  So while one boy did the rings, one did this spider crawl , wall walk thing.

 And one did backwards somersaults.
Then they went to the trampoline and started on backflips.

Topped off with a jumping high five.  From here they went to the parallel bars but they were waaay over in the back corner of the gym and we couldn't really see them.  Matthew LOVES this new class so it looks like Io will be spending a lot more time with the snotty mom's at the gym. :/

RANDOMS

Just a few random pics that don't really fit anywhere.
 The boys reading together.
Alex realizing that taking his blanket into the tub was not the snuggle fest he was expecting.

When I am in the kitchen, Alex is always in there with me, just like Matthew used to be when he was little.  When he stand in this cupboard, he can see over the counter to check out whats happening.
When he gets bored of peeking over the counter, he likes to play in the pot drawer.

Moley has discovered the awesomeness of the bean bag chairs.
The dinos are getting out of control.

Valentines Day

So obviously this is a little late but these pictures were hiding on my camera.
Mom and Dad sent me and the boys this box of delectable chocolate covered strawberries.  They were enormous and delicious.  In fact I ate the last two that were hidden in the freezer today.
  Still delicious!!!
I did take the strawberries out of the box and put in a couple things from the dollar store that the boys would prefer because honestly when you are 4 and 1.5 chocolate covered strawberries are not the gift you want regardless of the holiday.
These were the give away valentines that we made for Matthew to take to daycare.  They turned out great and it only took 4 tries and 88 crayons.  Thanks Pinterest.

Soccer

On March 23rd Matthew started soccer.
It is a six week camp of 15 3-5 year olds.  It is so cute to watch them run around after the ball while the instructors attempt to teach them skills.
Alex spends the hour running around trying to find puddles.

Last week they got shirts!!
